Description
Human visual imagery is being investigated by careful analyses of spatial visualization tasks. Some protocol-gathering experiments were run on a simple task of learning a path in space. Using a psychologically-structured computer system, the protocol behavior was simulated in detail, showing that the cognitive structure of spatial knowledge can be explained by symbolic structures and processes (as can other human problem-solving processes). This kind of research is important to several aspects of design theory and research.
